When this organisation was first started back in the 1980s the Spanish Horse (Andalusian) was automatically ‘pigeonholed’ by the general horsey fraternity as ‘Circus Horses’ , a term which was wielded by ‘serious’ riders in a very condemnatory way. At the time there were some famous Circus horses who were Andalusians – World Champion acts belonging to the Chipperfields and the Smarts but the reason that the Andalusians were so successful in the circus world was due to the breed’s great intelligence, trainability, good nature, fabulous good looks and innate presence, spectacular movements and athleticism. These attributes are all ideal for application to many other horse sports and horse hobbies.  Currently there is a tendency to ‘pigeonhole’ Spanish Horses as ‘Dressage Horses’ which is again just a tiny part of the Spanish Horse’ many wonderful abilities.

We need to let everyone know that PREs, Partbreds, and horses of Spanish-type can turn their hooves to virtually anything that is asked of them. So this section of our website is being developed to show the world the enormous range of events and fun hobbies and endeavours that the Spanish Horse is involved in with great success and enjoyment for both horse and rider. At the moment we have come up with the following list of activities/sports, but if you know of anything that a Spanish Horse is taking part in which is not on this list email the Webmaster with information and photos and we can add another page to the website.
