BAPSH Magazines from 1983 to 2015
This page will contain links to copies of all the Newsletters and Magazines produced over the past 32 years, but it is a slow process scanning each magazine into the computers so please be patient. At the moment, at the end of April 2017 there are 24 Magazines copied and uploaded (The 2000 Magazines have just been added).

Going back through the Magazines to copy them is proving to be an interesting experience, with lots of event reports and articles about people and horses which catch one’s eye and delay the boring process of the actual copying ! It is particularly interesting to see the Magazines arranged in date order which really emphasises just how much the world has advanced in the technology for printing and reproducing text and images for amateur home-based desk top publishers. When the first Newsletters were produced in the early 1980s the text was typed on a very advanced electric ‘Smith Corona’ typewriter that had interchangeable typeface ‘wheels’ enabling changes in the style of type to produce a ‘master-copy’ magazine that was then photocopied, collated, and stapled; all by hand. Photograph reproduction was a huge problem at that time and photographs were usually just stuck onto the ‘master-copy’ and photocopied with variable results. Then in the late 1980s computer software appeared with WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) technology so that (in theory) what one saw on the screen layout matched what the Printer spat out; then black & white scanners finally became affordable, though still very expensive, which meant photos could be scanned into the computer (with mixed results !!). This was the beginning of true Desk-top Publishing but it was many years before the software and hardware became as accurate, and creative as it is nowadays.
We are sure that all the Spanish Horse enthusiasts who have enjoyed reading these Newsletters and Magazines over the past 32 years will join us in giving a big ‘thankyou’ to all the people who have given up huge amounts of time, work, and creative mental energy to produce these records of the world of Spanish Horses in the UK and further afield.
Magazines already copied in full are indicated with a Written Title under the Cover Photo; you can click through to the Magazine-pdf via the Front Cover image or via the wording.
